Damascus Countryside, SANA – Food and medical aid was distributed to the residents of Khan al-Sheeh Camp, located in the western countryside of Damascus, after a reconciliation agreement was achieved in the town early this month.
The distribution was carried out by the General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), supported by the Syrian government and supervised by the
Higher Relief Committee.
In a statement to SANA, GAPAR Director General Ali Mustafa said 1050 food packages, 1050 medical packages and 4000 blankets were distributed to the town’s residents.
As part of the reconciliation agreement, militants in the town handed over to the authorities tens of armored vehicles, rockets and RPG launchers and hundreds of sniper rifles, machine guns and amounts of ammunition.
Most of the militants had their legal status settled, while the rest were evacuated. 23 kidnapped people, including civilians and military personnel, were freed.
