Moscow, SANA – The Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expressed regret over the failure of the United Nations to use the humanitarian pauses to deliver humanitarian aid to eastern parts of Aleppo city.
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov expressed to Deputy UN Special Envoy for Syria, Ambassador Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, his regret that “the humanitarian pauses in Aleppo have not been used to deliver humanitarian aid to eastern parts of the city and to evacuate wounded and sick from there,” according to the Ministry.
In October, the Syrian General Command of Army and Armed Forces announced that the decision of suspending the air strikes on gunmen in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo came as a preparation for the humanitarian pause, calling on all gunmen to leave their weapons and benefit from the amnesty decree.
The talks also focused on the revival of the political process in Syria amid a prolonged suspension of intra-Syrian reconciliation talks and resume dialogue among all parties concerned to reach a settlement in accordance with the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and the International Syria Support Group to maintain governmental institution, eliminate terrorists and restore peaceful life.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced the launch of a large-scale operation to deliver massive strikes against terrorists in the Syrian provinces of Idleb and Homs.
