Electricity Minister inaugurates power substation in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA – Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli inaugurated on Saturday the Burj Islam power substation in Lattakia, which has a capacity of 66/20 kV and has an overall cost of SYP 1.3 billion.

Kharboutli told the press that this station is part of the government’s efforts to improve the state of the electric power grid, and that the substation will alleviate the load put on the three other substations in the areas, reducing rationing hours in a number of areas.

The Minister also met electric power officials in the province at the Lattakia Electricity Company after the inauguration, saying that there’s a plan by the Prime Minister’s office to help the Electricity Ministry procure oil and fuel, and that the Ministry will be using reserves to reduce rationing during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday.
