Actor Hassan Younes passes away

Damascus, SANA – Syrian actor Hassan Younes passed away on Monday following a struggle with disease. He was 73.

The late actor’s son-in-law Ali Marouf told SANA that Younes had suffered from a heart condition during the last few years, and underwent open heart surgery two weeks ago.

Hassan Younes was born in Damascus in 1943. He was the father of four daughters.

Younes was a founding member of the Syrian Artists Guild and began his career on stage with plays like Hanzala by the late Saadalla Wannous and the General Inspector.

He also appeared in films like the Half Meter Incident and dozens of TV shows like Asaad al-Warraq, al-Zaba’a, Rituals of Love and Hate, Difficult Steps, Wrath of the Desert, the Escapee, the Unknown, Tales of Mystery, Night of the Travelers, and Lawrence of Arabia. His last acting role was in the joint Arab series My Friend.
