Culture Ministry announces winners of 2016 Appreciation State Award

Damascus, SANA – The Culture Ministry announced on Wednesday the winners of 2016 Appreciation State Award, which is awarded for distinguished figures in the world of art and literature in appreciation for their creativity and output.

The award for the arts category went to actress Salma al-Masri, and the literature category award went to writer Nadia Khost, while the criticism, studies, and translation category award went to writer Mohammad Hassan Qeja.

The award consists of a gold medal, a certificate, and a sum of SYP 1,000,000.

In a statement to SANA, Salma al-Masri said she is proud to receive this award, and that such awards motivate persons to be more creative and productive.
