Quneitra, SANA – Quneitra Governor Maan Salahedin Ali met a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) headed by Deputy Head of Regional Delegation Ikhtiyar Aslanov.
During the meeting, Ali said that terrorists are depriving thousands of locals from drinking water by attacking pumping stations and pipelines and assuming control of water sent to populated areas, adding that consecutive power failures caused by terrorist attacks also contribute to the difficulty in providing drinking water.
He lauded the cooperation shown by international organizations, particularly the ICRC, as it provided 20 water tankers and provided water to gatherings of displaced citizens, in addition to helping in replacing pipelines.
For his part, Aslanov said the ICRC is working to start more water projects in Quneitra project, discussing some steps that could help provide water to certain areas, while David Kaelin, the ICRC’s water coordinator in Syria, voiced regret over the damage caused to the infrastructure in Syria.
On a relevant note, Governor Ali met displaced citizens from al-Sbaineh, al-Hajar al-Aswad, and al-Ziyabiye. 400 food baskets were distributed among the displaced during this meeting.
