Iran: Dialogue between Syrian government and real opposition groups is only way to resolve crisis in Syria

Tehran, SANA – Dialogue between Syrian government and real opposition groups and the formation of a national government is the only way to resolve the crisis in Syria, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi told IRNA.

Salehi made the remark during his meeting with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka in Tehran on Tuesday.

The latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria were discussed during the meeting.
For his part, Sobotka noted that his country is following up the regional developments and the crisis in Syria, clarifying that Prague is in contact with Damascus in fighting against terrorist organizations including ISIS.

Abdullahian: Some int’l and regional parties supported terrorists to achieve their schemes in Syria

Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stressed that some international and regional players, since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, have adopted the military option and supported terrorists to achieve their schemes in this country.

” Some of players have been seeking military approach from the outsets, and they supported terrorists to obtain their goals,” Abdollahian said during his meeting with Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Christian Masset in Tehran on Tuesday.

Abdollahian expressed concern over the violation of cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria by armed groups, underlining the need for a proper understanding of the international community about the definition of terrorist groups in Syria.

” Since the beginning of the crisis, Iran supported the political option and backed the process of political reforms in Syria and sending human aid as well,” Abdollahian said .

Masset, for his part, pointed to the necessity of resuming the intra-Syrian dialogue, saying “Tehran and Paris are following common points on solution to Syria,”
The French official noted that the two countries share stances regarding fighting terrorism, supporting democracy in Syria and determining future of Syria by its own people.

He asserted that ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra are definitely terrorist organizations and France also has suffered from them.
