Damascus, SANA – Several national opposition parties and figures announced on Monday the formation of “the National Opposition Bloc” during a constitutive conference held at the headquarters of the National Youth Party for Justice and Development in Damascus.
The coordinator of the National Democratic Bloc, Abdullatif al-Bouni said that the new Bloc is not directed against anyone inside Syria, or any opposition party or figure, rather it mainly aims at forming a real opposition that is based on realistic vision and program for peaceful change.
He added that “our doors are open to all people who share our vision, goals and principles,” noting that a committee was formed to contact with all sides inside the country and some of opposition figures abroad to form a real opposition bloc in Syria.
The newly formed Bloc’s principles provide for preserving state institutions, first of all the Syrian Arab army, and rejecting foreign agendas and any attempt to cede any part of the Syrian territory.
The constitutive document also called for rejecting all forms of terrorism, confronting it and drying up its supply resources, in addition to combating corruption.
Opposition parties which signed the document are: the National Youth party of Justice and Development, the Solidarity Party, the Syria Homeland Party, Democratic Arab Solidarity Party, the National Democratic Bloc, the Syrian Secular League, the Syrian Woman Forum, Layan Association, Palmyra Association to Defend Women and Children’s Rights and the Democratic Civil Alliance, as well as some independent opposition figures.
Later on, some of the aforementioned parties and figures, side by side with a number of parliamentarians and other social figures participated in the candlelight vigil organized by the National Youth Party for Justice and Development to express solidarity with Aleppo residents in the face of terrorist organizations.
