Chairman of the Syrian Exporters Union Mohammad al-Sawwah said such expos show that Syrian industries are recovering and that good alternatives for imports are available as local production is capable of meeting the market’s needs.

He noted that Syrian clothing is being exported to neighboring countries on daily basis despite massive difficulties.

For his part, Director of the Local Production and Exports Development and Support Agency Ihab Esmandar said that MODATEX expos are proving to be increasingly popular, with 10 new companies participating in the current expo compared to the previous one, adding that the expo sends a message that the clothing industry is recovering but it needs more efforts to assume its role in national economy.

Mohammad Hamwi, one of the participants in the expo, said that he was displaced from Aleppo after terrorists burned down his factory there, yet he refused to give up and settled in Kasab area in Lattakia where he built a plant there that began production 9 months ago.
