Exhibition and conference on latest medical advances and researches

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Doctors Syndicate opened on Thursday its first regular scientific conference in 2016 in al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus with the participants of specialists and pharmaceutical and medical companies.

Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi delivered a speech in which he highlighted the importance of the conference in terms of keeping up to date with the latest medical advances, researches and techniques in order to improve health services in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.

The premier cited some of the direct impacts of the terrorism war in the country on the health sector, including damage to hospitals, health centers and ambulances and the casualties among medical cadres.

Despite all the challenges, he said, the health sector is still effective as many medical services are provided to the citizens free of charge.

He also referred to ongoing efforts to rehabilitate damaged hospitals and open new health facilities and pharmaceutical factories in newly secured areas.

Al-Halaqi later visited the medical exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference that includes advanced medical and pharmaceutical equipment and whose revenue will go to the fund for supporting the martyrs’ families and the injured people.

Over 16 sessions, the three-day conference will tackle a number of issues such as pathology, tissue biology, tumors, thoracic surgery, children and women diseases, eye surgery, digestion diseases, heart diseases, orthopedics and neurosurgery.
