Lavrov and Kerry stress necessity of launching Syrian-Syrian talks soon

Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US State Secretary John Kerry called for announcing the launch of Syrian-Syrian talks by the UN special envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura as soon as possible.

RT website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that Lavrov and Kerry discussed during a phone call on Monday the preparations for the talks between the representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition groups under UN auspices in order to resolve the crisis in Syria.

The statement clarified that Lavrov stressed during the call that all parties should have integrity in applying the provisions of the UN resolution no. 2254, which includes the issue of forming a delegation of the opposition with a wide representation, as well as the inclusion of the issue of forming a united front to fight the terrorist organizations on the agenda along with the ceasefire, resolving humanitarian issues, and implementing political reforms on the basis of consensus between the government and the opposition.
