Damascus, SANA – Syria reiterated its support for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in its fair demand for a peaceful settlement on the Korean Peninsula.

In compliance with the principles of the UN Charter calling for international peace and security, Syria reaffirms support for peacefully settling the situation on the peninsula and keeping away the specter of war that jeopardizes regional and international peace and security, a statement by the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Wednesday.

Syria, the statement added, supports North Korea’s call on the US to strike a deal for establishing sustainable peace that consolidates trust and ends the state of war between the two Koreas and replaces the Korean Armistice Agreement of 1953.

The Foreign Ministry concluded its statement by saying that Syria looks forward to the day when the Korean people’s hope of having the Korean homeland united without foreign interference will be materialized in line with the Korean leadership’s aspirations.
