Putin discusses with National Security Council situation in Syria

Moscow, SANA- Russia’s president Vladimir Putin discussed with the National Security Council members the situation in Syria and the conduct of the Russian air force operations there.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Saturday meeting dealt with the issues of terrorism and extremism in a large-scale context.

For his part, Chief of the presidential staff Sergey Ivanov rebutted that there was a talk at the meeting on a Russian ground operation in Syria.

In a press release on earlier Friday,Peskov said the duration of the Russian military operations in Syria depend on the progress made by the Syrian army.
