Damascus, SANA –Many dancing performances and musical pieces were part of the Festival “Syria’ Rainbow” which started its new season at the Damascus-based Opera House on Sunday.
Ajyal (Generations) band performed dances and Oriental music (Takht) ensemble, led by Maestro Nazih As’aad, chanted folkloric songs during the first day.
The five-day festival is to present dancing performances from the Circassian, Armenian, Kurdish and Syriac Assyrian heritage in a reference to the richness the Syrian heritage and the harmony of the Syrians.
The concert, attended by Minister of Culture Issam Khalil, started with solo flute music and then followed with folkloric songs from different parts of the country.
Artist Bassel Hamdan excelled in presenting an expressionist panoramic performance reflecting the abundance of the Syrian cultural heritage.
