Damascus, SANA- President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, said that Syria is an integral, unified and indivisible country, and civil peace is a duty for all citizens of the country, and the suspicious calls that require a state of danger for certain sects to show themselves as the protectors and saviors are meaningless calls that can’t deceive the Syrian consciousness.
“The Syrian history has gone throughout many challenges and transformations over a century, from the colonial era to political disorder, passing through the United Arab Republic, then a-Baath Party, to the rule of the two Assads,” President al-Sharaa said in a speech on Tuesday at the opening session of the National Dialogue Conference.
“During that era, Syria has endured various pains and sufferings, social, economic, political, psychological, moral, and others. It has been devoured by hyenas who have shed its blood, then came the blessed Syrian revolution, then the clear victory and the great conquest.”
Syria was rescued from doom, it was saved but it is burdened with wounds, and today it is in the intensive care unit, standing before you, happy, but wounded and in pain, calling on you to stand together, united and cooperating to treat it, bandage its wounds and console it, and it has full confidence in you that you will not let it down from today on, and will not neglect it, and you will stay up to protect it, build it and make it prosperous,’ President al-Sharaa added.
President al-Sharaa went on to say that Syria today “urges you all not to disagree but to agree. It urges you to consult about the future of your country, your nation and the generations that will follow you.”
“The current events are the title of a new historical phase that you are writing with your fingers, building with your hands and teaching it to your children. Syria has returned today to its people after it was stolen from its children suddenly. So preserve your trust and fulfill your duty. The greatest treatment for Syria today is to feel it, its pains and its sufferings. May God be with you, Sham, may God be with you, Sham,” the President said.
President Al-Sharaa pointed out that it is appropriate for us today, while we are facing this great responsibility, to take into account that we are in the stage of rebuilding the state again, with all the devastation and destruction that has befallen it, and that this stage has critical characteristics, and has advantages that differ from a state with a continuous regime followed by people and the regime remains, so only the weapon and its possession in the hands of the State is not a luxury, but rather a duty a must.
“We have worked during the past two months to pursue the perpetrators of crimes against the Syrians, and we will work to form a transitional justice body that will restore rights to the people, do justice to them, and bring the criminals to justice. We also sought during and after the liberation battle to stop bloodshed and not demolish cities, and we used multiple methods to do so, all to see the Syrians sit together and rebuild their country,” President Al-Sharaa said.
President Al-Sharaa added that vivid peoples are those who carry a wealth of moral values, once they adhere to them, they survive, and once they abandon them, they fail. “Consideration should be given to repairing what the deposed regime destroyed in the moral and ethical structure of our society, what we are experiencing today is an exceptional, rare, historical opportunity in which we must exploit every moment, in a way that serves the interests of our people and nation and befits the sacrifices of its people,” President al-Sharaa said.
