Paris, SANA – About 2000 French persons are involved in terrorist acts beyond France borders, particularly in Syria and Iraq, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has confessed .
” About 700 terrorists headed for the fields of terrorist operations or returned from and more than that 250 others expressed their intention to leave while there are a similar number somewhere between France and Syria,” Cazeneuve told AFP on Wednesday.
The minister said that last September, the number of the French extremists who join the terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq has increased by 74 percent during 2014.
For his part, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Nicholas Rasmussen announced that the number of the foreigners who joined the terrorist organizations in Syria estimated at 20,000 from 90 countries.
Rasmussen added that 3400 out of the foreign fighters came from Western countries, including 150 Americans.
In a relevant context, the Vice-President of European Police Office (Europol) said Monday that the number of the foreigners who are fighting along with the terrorist organizations in Syria reached about 30,000.
