Information ministry honors families of journalists who lost their live during crisis

Damascus, SANA-The Syrians are disinclined to get caught up in a war that has no end in sight and is devoid of meaning, Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said.

The minister’s comments came during a ceremony held by Information Ministry in cooperation with the Iranian embassy in Damascus to honor families of 46 journalists who lost their lives during the crisis.

Al-Zoubi said that the Syrian government went to Moscow meeting and Geneva conference because it believes in political solution while remaining committed to national principles.

He vowed that the Syrian army and armed forces will press ahead with counter-terrorism drive until security and stability are restored.

Commenting on ISIS killing of the Jordanian fighter pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh who was burnt alive, al-Zoubi called on Jordanian authorities who declared they will intensify air strikes against ISIS positions as part of US-led anti-ISIS international coalition to beef up border control measures as to stem a flow of terrorists into the Syrian lands.

“The economic pressure on Syria is at its highest today after conspiracies of countries against Syria hit the buffers…It is a method of extortion intended to fight the Syrian people in their sustenance,” added the minister.

Iranian ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Rauf Sheibani said “martyrs of the word” in Syria, referring to journalists who lost their lives, have sacrificed their all to convey the truth about the ongoing events “against a deluge of fabricated news meant to disorient public opinion.”
