Al-Laham urges regional and international powers to dry up sources of terrorism

Monaco, SANA- Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham called for using parliamentary diplomacy to coerce regional and international powers to dry up terrorism sources and combat it everywhere, asserting the importance of enhancing parliamentary efforts in combating terrorism and extremism in the Mediterranean region.

During his meeting with chairman of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Francesco M. Amoruso on the sidelines of PAM’s plenary session in Monaco, al-Laham pointed out to the importance of preparing strong legislations concerned with preventing the spread of extremism and terrorism and the recruitment of terrorists and stopping terrorists from infiltrating the borders of Syria and others countries that suffer from terrorism.

On a relevant context, the southern geopolitical group in PAM condemned unanimously the French authorities’ decision to deny the Syrian delegation entry visas to participate in PAM sessions.

In this regard, al-Laham, who arrived in Monaco with a previously-issued entry visa, considered this act to be an attempt at silencing the voice of the Syrian people.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean is the forum where the parliaments of the region come together and work to reach common objectives towards the creation of the optimal political, social, economic, and cultural environment and conditions for the citizens of the member states.
