Donetsk: Detained foreign mercenaries will be brought to trial

Donetsk, SANA- The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic have announced that the foreign mercenaries currently detained in it will be brought to trial.

“Foreign mercenaries will not be allowed to leave Mariupol and will not be treated as prisoners of war and will be prosecuted,” Deputy Commander of the Republic’s Forces, Edward Basurin, told reporters in response to a question in this regard, according to RIA Novosti.

He pointed out that they rejected this opportunity that they had previously.

Russia launched a special military operation to protect the population of Donbass in Ukraine on February 24, and the Russian Defense Ministry announced yesterday that the Armed Forces had accomplished the main tasks of the first phase of the operation and significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine.
