Syria calls for correcting work track of OPCW

New York, SANA-Syria rejected and condemned the use of chemical weapons, in any place or at any time and under any circumstance, stressing its positive cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), hoping the Organization would correct its track and return it to the technical feature.

“Security Council, two days ago, renewed its commitment to resolution No. 1540 that aims to prevent any groups from possessing weapons of mass destruction, including the chemical weapons… a commitment to which Syria supports to put an end to the possession and use of chemical weapons by armed terrorist organizations,” Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, said in a session for UN Security council.

He added that Syria has persisted to provide the committee of resolution No. 1540 and the UN General Secretariat with information about the possession and use of chemical weapons by terrorist groups or fabricating chemical incidents in Syria, among them the possession of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists of toxic chemical substances and rockets.
