Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi stressed the government’s continuous efforts to fulfill the citizens’ needs, noting that there is direct communication with the concerned parties to meet the increasing demand for gas and fuel.
Al-Halaqi carried out a tour on Thursday during which he inspected a number of petrol stations, gas cylinder distribution centers, bakeries, consumer goods establishments and firefighting centers in al-Mazzeh neighborhood and Baghdad Street in Damascus city.
He also visited bus stations and inspected the situation of inter-city transportation and transportation between provinces as well as Damascus-Beirut and Damascus-Amman transport lines.
Addressing the reporters in a statement, al-Halaqi sounded an assuring note that all the necessary materials of gas, diesel and gasoline will be available in the market in the next few days, and will be supplied in accordance with the demand.
He stressed that field tours by the concerned parties, including the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry, will continue so as to monitor the performance of governmental, services and economic sectors.
He called upon the Ministry to intensify efforts to control markets, efforts becoming highly needed after cases of corruption, price manipulation, monopolization and fuel smuggling have been detected over the past period.
The Premier also called upon the citizens to report any incidents of such practices in order to be immediately tackled.
