Iran stresses the importance of lifting unilateral sanctions on Syria

Tehran, SANA- Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji discussed on Saturday during a phone conversation with the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen continuation of the Syrian political process and the need to continue the talks within the framework of Committee of Discussing the Constitution.

Khaji voiced hope through the joint efforts of the United Nation and the international community, the necessary steps would be taken to lift unilateral sanctions on Syria, improve the humanitarian situation, and the return of the displaced.

For his part, Pederson underlined the expansion of humanitarian aid as an important element in resolving the Syrian crisis.
