School vaccination campaign launched in al-Waer neighborhood in Homs

Homs, SANA – A vaccination campaign was launched Tuesday in a number of schools in al-Waer neighborhood in the city of Homs, targeting 3,000 students from 1st and 6th grades of the basic education stage.

The campaign was carried out by the School Health Department of the Education Directorate in cooperation with the branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) in Homs.

Head of the Department Azzam al-Najjar pointed out in a statement to SANA that 16,688 out of the 18,306 targeted students benefited from the campaign in the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year in the city of Homs.

Vaccines that are being administered during the campaign include those against polio, meningitis, diphtheria and tetanus to the 1st grade students while the 6th grade students will be vaccinated against diphtheria and tetanus.
