Patriarch Laham calls for prayer for peace in Syria

Beirut, SANA – Greek-Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Gregorios III Laham called on Saturday for prayers for peace in Syria.

The Patriarch addressed his call to “all Melkite Catholic believers in the Arab world and all countries of the world as well as the humanitarian institutions and organizations.”

The appeal included a call for lighting a candle every night and a call for prayer for peace to prevail in Syria, the East and the whole world.

During a holy mass held in Cairo on Chistmas Eve a few days ago, Laham underlined the importance of consolidating the values of amity, peace and reconciliation as means to confront the phenomena of extremism, terrorism and violence facing the Middle East region, particularly Syria and Iraq.
