Russian aircraft loaded with 25 tons of humanitarian aid arrives in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA-A Russian aircraft loaded with 25 tons of humanitarian aid arrived Thursday in Bassel al-Assad airport in Lattakia province.

The planeload of humanitarian aid, which is a gift from the Russian people and government to the Syrian people, contains canned meat and fish, sugar and infants food.

Lattakia governor Ibrahim Khoder al-Salem told journalists at the airport that the Russian aid, which continues to pour in to Syria, is a clear indication of the deep bilateral relations binding the two nations.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry representative said the Russian government insisted on sending this new shipment of aid braving unfavorable weather conditions in Russia.

The shipment which arrived on Thursday was announced earlier as the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said that a plane from its fleet will head to Syria loaded with more than 25 tons of relief supplies.

This is not the first planeload of humanitarian aid to be sent by Russia. Russia has been a staunch supporter of the Syrian people during the four-year crisis that has gripped the country, consistently sending relief aid that has served to ease the suffering of many afflicted families.
