Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, reiterated the necessity of eliminating terrorism in Syria completely and resolving the crisis in the country in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
“We have discussed the crisis in Syria and agreed on the necessity of the final uprooting of the terrorist remnants in the country as well as providing the appropriate conditions for the return of refugees and reconstruction process,” Lavrov indicated at a press conference on Wednesday with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman al- Safadi.
UN Resolution 2254, issued in December 2015, affirms that the Syrians are the only ones who determine the future of their country by themselves without any external interference, and that terrorist organizations are outside of any political process.
In a related context, Lavrov stressed that the West has tried to rescue the so-called “White Helmets” terrorists at a time when efforts were focused on liberating the territories from the terrorists.
He added that “the White Helmets” is a Western scheme and was formed with the support and funding of Western intelligence agencies, saying “its members are active in areas where Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists are positioned.”
