Syria to develop humanitarian response plan for people with Special needs

Tartous, SANA-Social Affairs Minister Kinda al-Shammat affirmed Wednesday that next year will witness a progress in the performance of the humanitarian response plan through an agreement with the UN Development Program (UNDP) to care about those with special needs and the disabled of the war.

“Syria is passing through a difficult stage in all fields, including the services of the social caring institutions which came under attacks at the hands of terrorists, so the Ministry seeks new substitutes,” Minister al-Shammat said at a celebration held in Tartous on International Day of Disabled Persons.

For his part, Regional Director of the UNDP Jan Thomas Hiemstra said the international celebration this year concentrates on the durable development and empowering the disabled to access into IT to develop their communications with their surroundings.

Syria has given a great interest to the people with special needs through joining and signing many international treaties and protocols to make them merger within the social and professional life.

During the celebration, a number of art shows were performed by people with special needs while 54 of them were honored.
