Local company manufactures walk through sanitizing tunnel to help combat the Coronavirus

Homs, SANA – A local engineering company in Hasia industrial city in Homs manufactured a walk through sanitizing tunnel for placement at entrances of buildings to help protect against the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The device, which was placed at the entrance of the administration building of the industrial city, consists of a metal tunnel that automatically sprays sanitizer at people who pass through it.

Engineer Nabil Wais, who had manufactured the tunnel at an engineering industries company at Hasia, said the device is easy to build and install and inexpensive.

Wais said the tunnel is three meters long, 120 cm wide, and 250 cm high, and is equipped with a to-liter tank and a pump that delivers sanitizer to sprinklers attached to a switch activated by a timed sensor that allows the tunnel to operate autonomously, spraying the sanitizer when the sensors detect someone walking through.

He said the tunnel can be made in three sizes to meet the needs of clients and will be sold at cost price in order to contribute to the efforts for combating the Coronavirus and preserve public health.

Wais also added that they are working to further improve the tunnel by adding a remote thermometer that measures the temperature of persons passing through.
