Sabbagh: Supporting Syrian traditional handicraft to preserve its cultural identity

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Industry, Ziad Sabbagh stressed the importance of eliminating all obstacles facing the Syrian traditional handicrafts.

During a tour of Khan al-Zujaj (Glass Khan) for traditional industries in Bab Sharqi, Damascus, Minister Sabbagh expressed the Ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure the requirements of training courses to teach these crafts in order to preserve its Syrian cultural identity.

Chairman of the Oriental Handicrafts Association, Fouad Arbash, pointed out the Association is working to reactivate these crafts, operate all craft workshops and train the young generation for its continuity and development.

In turn, Director of Training Activity at the Oriental Handicrafts Association, Johnny Gharbyan, said that the association is currently concentrating on teaching crafts with high professionalism through a theoretical and practical curriculum for long periods, after which, young people will be able to enter the labor market.
