Establishing central committee for reconciliation discussed

Damascus, SANA – The National Reconciliation Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed on Monday forming an executive committee for reconciliation that represents the legislative and executive authorities.

In statements to journalists, head of the Committee Omar Osi said that this issue was discussed on Today’s meeting, as a project to this effect based on partnership between the Assembly’s Committee and the government was put forth by the executive authority.

Osi said that forming such a committee would be a step forward in terms of reconciliation efforts which are the only way to resolve the crisis in Syria peacefully.

During the meeting, the Committee members stressed the need to promote the culture of reconciliation among the people via mass media, religious figures, and political parties.

They also called for resolving the legal status of detainees swiftly, speeding up work on the terrorism tribunal, and issuing a law related to civilian martyrs.
