Damascus, SANA – The Electricity Ministry on Saturday put the Ibn al-Nafis electric substation into service.
The substation, which cost SYP 6.5 billion and has a capacity of 90 MVA, will help stabilize power feed and reduce loads in Damascus city, using the latest technology which ensures that workers are completely safe while taking up 3 times less space than old substations.
Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli said the substation was built using local skills and expertise, and it should help deal with the increasing power loads in several neighborhoods in Damascus.
