Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce discusses means to enhance economic cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Participants in the preparatory meeting of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce, which was held on Tuesday evening at Ebla al-Sham Hotel, discussed means to enhance trade exchange between Syria and Iran.

Chairman of the Joint Chamber Omran Shaaban called for establishing joint stock companies in various economic domains between the two chambers of commerce or the public and private sectors in the two countries.

For his part, Head of the Iranian-Syrian Joint Chamber of Commerce Kiwan Kashifi  said that the Iranian delegation which is participating in the meeting embraces representatives of companies specialized in different domains such as “electricity, construction, food industries, cement, energy, medical equipment, houseware, agriculture, poultry and shipping.”

Kashifi called for establishing a databank on the economic activities in both countries for exchanging expertise and increasing the rate of trade exchange between the Iran and Syria.

Internal and Consumer Protection Minister Dr. Atef Naddaf underlined the necessity of developing the Syrian-Iranian economic relations to become up to the level of the strategic relations between them, calling for activating cooperation through the joint chamber to overcome the obstacles which have resulted from the sanctions and coercive measures imposed on both countries.

Minister al-Naddaf called on members of the Chamber to inspect the governmental facilitations provided for the establishments at the industrial zones and cities in Syria.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Javad Turk-Abadi called for further deepening the cooperation between the two sides through the joint chamber of commerce, affirming that there are many spheres of cooperation and joint interests between Iran and Syria.

Many Iranian companies will participate in the 61st edition of Damascus International Fair with the aim of carrying out economic and investment projects and contributing to the reconstruction stage in Syria.

An Iranian delegation embracing about 30 Iranian businessmen will also visit Syria to participate in Damascus International Fair and to get acquainted with the domains of cooperation and the projects of mutual interest.
