Damascus, SANA- A model of the roof of Temple of Bel’s mihrab , which was destroyed by Daesh (ISIS) terrorists in August 2015, arrived in Damascus National Museum on Thursday.
The model was made by Italian artists under the supervision of the meeting of cultural civilizations society and the Italian archaeological mission operating at Ebla archeological site.
Director-general of Antiquities and Museums Mahmoud Hammoud said that the model was made by three-dimensional (3D) printing technology with great accuracy.
Other influences such as colors and traditional materials were added to the model to give the ancient archeological features to the ceiling of Temple of Bel, which is characterized by its decoration , fine and rare engravings.
The model is 4 meters-long, 1.5 meters-wide, 80 cm thick, and 190 km weight .
It was displayed in the monumental Colosseum building and in the UN building in the Italian capital.
The model was also exhibited in the European Parliament building in Brussels and headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Parisbefore being given to the Directorate-General for Antiquities and Museums.
It will be exhibited to the public at the Damascus National Museum in a special ceremony on April 23.
