Russia: Washington refused to allow convoys to evacuate Syrian civilians from al-Rukban camp

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Defense Ministry said that the United States is still preventing displaced Syrians from leaving al-Rukban camp, as it refused to allow convoys to enter and evacuate Syrian civilians from the camp and return them to their homes via humanitarian corridors.

Head of the Russian coordination center in Hmeimim Sergei Solomatin said that the US refused to listen to the appeal of the coordination center for organizing the return and refugees and allowing caravans entry into al-Tanf area to transport displaced Syrians from al-Rukban camp.

Solomatin said that this US refusal came despite the Syrian government’s success if taking all the necessary measures to ensure the evacuation of displaced people from the camp and returning them to their places of residence.

Two humanitarian corridors were opened at Jalib and Jabal al-Ghurab towns at the outskirts of al-Tanf on February 19th in order to evacuate the displaced people detained at al-Rukban camp.
