SARC delivers aid convoy of 133 trucks to al-Rukban Camp

Damascus, SANA- A convoy of humanitarian aid was delivered to tens of thousands of displaced Syrians at al-Rukban Camp in al-Tanf area alongside the Syrian-Jordanian border.

The delivery process was carried out by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and facilitated by the Syrian government.

SARC said in statement to SANA that SARC in cooperation with the UN delivered a convoy of 133 trucks laden with humanitarian aid  to al-Rukban Camp in al-Tanf area, targeting over 40,000 persons in the camp.

The convoy, which comes three months after the first humanitarian aid convoy entered the camp, included 8345 food packages and a similar number of flour bags, in addition to packages containing canned food, medicines, food stuff for children and pregnant women, children’s clothes, educational  and health materials , and other non-food and logistics materials, the statement said.

A vaccination campaign against polio, measles, hepatitis and tuberculosis will be launched in the camp under the supervision of a medical team, the statement added.

The statement indicated that 146 SARC volunteers will be ready to help thousands of families staying in the camp, who have been living under difficult humanitarian conditions, adding that the preparation for the convoy took one month as it is the second one that enters the camp via the Syrian territory.
