Homs, SANA – The “Red Violin” musical band brings together 30 talented children who sing and play different musical instruments to spread joy and happiness with their little fingers and angelic voices chanting for the homeland.
The main objective of establishing the band in Homs, three years ago, lies in developing and nurturing young talents and “providing them with an escape from the distressing atmosphere of war, killing and destruction currently prevailing in the country, Ahmad Daher, the band’s founder, told SANA Youth Bulletin.
“We realized the importance of paying more attention to our children to allow them into a world that is full of music and joy,” said Daher, adding that the band is meant to be “the children’s voice to express their feelings and creative talents.”
Daher pointed out that the band included children whose ages range between 8 and 16 years, adding that he named the band in honor of his own violin.
September 11th, 2011 was the beginning, he noted, with presenting poems and songs on humanitarian and national themes. Training children was not the only thing, with Daher also working on composing and melodizing several songs inspired by the current events taking place in Syria.
