Moscow, SANA- Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the symptoms displayed by the civilians who suffered from suffocation due to the attack launched by terrorist organizations on residential neighborhoods in Aleppo affirm that shells filled with chlorine gas were used in the attack.
The Ministry’s Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Sunday that “From preliminary data, in particular the confirmed symptoms displayed by those affected, the rocket shells used in the attack were filled with chlorine.”
“The Russian Defense Ministry has dispatched chemical protection troops stationed in Syria to the area. They are tending to those affected and monitoring the situation on the ground,” Konashenkov added.
He indicated that according to the information revealed by Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center “120-mm mortar shells that might contain chlorine gas were fired on al-Khalidyia and al-Neel Street neighborhoods from the southeastern suburbs of al-Braikiyat village which is controlled by (Jaish al-Tahrir) terrorists .”
The Russian military official added that his country has earlier warned against the attempts by the “White Helmets” terrorists to carry out provocations through using chemical substances in the demilitarized zone in the surroundings of Idleb to accuse the Syrian army of launching chemical attacks against the locals there.
Konashenkov said it is very clear that the “White Helmets” terrorists have direct relations with the terrorist organizations in Syria, particularly those which are positioned in the demilitarized zone in Idleb.
He added that Russian experts are closely following up the situation in the de-escalation zone in Idleb for which the Turkish sides is responsible in general.
The Russian official noted that Moscow intends to discuss the terrorist attack with toxic gases on Aleppo with Ankara as it is a guarantor of the commitment of the “armed opposition” to halting the hostilities there.
