Veteran and young artists showcase their works at annual Autumn Exhibition

Damascus, SANA – Various artistic generations of Syrian artists gathered for the annual Autumn Exhibition at Khan Asaad Pasha in the Old City in Damascus on Saturday to present different styles and styles of art and content.

“The annual Autumn Exhibition, which is held within the activities of Culture Day, is considered one of the most prominent fine arts activities in Syria because it features various paintings and sculptures which reflect the innovative talents in the field of fine arts in the country,” Minister of Culture Mohammad al-Ahmad said in a statement to SANA.

Al-Ahmad added that the war waged on Syria targeted our culture and civilization, which is why the Ministry sought to counter it with culture and recalling the country’s creativity.

Artist George Ashi participated in the exhibition with an extraordinary painting reflecting the simplicity of the Syrian man using warm colors.

From the remnants of ruin and war, artist Moustafa Ali created a sculpture made of bronze, wood, and Iron depicting a falling human body, pointing out that in his sculpture he aimed at creating beauty from the rubble to convey a message that Syria always represents the will of life and the resurrection.

Meanwhile, artist Saad Shawqi made an iron sculpture representing immigration and its impact on the human being, while the artist Ahmed Misbah’s painting was inspired by Nizar Qabbani’s poems and his love of Damascus.

The young artist Salam al-Ahmad participated in a painting titled “the waiting” which featured one body with two heads to express that the woman and man are inseparable.
