Russian strategic bombers destroy Daesh positions in Deir Ezzor

Moscow, SANA – Russian strategic bombers on Saturday destroyed Daesh (ISIS) fortified positions on the western bank of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor province.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that six Tu-22M3 long-range bombers took off from a Russian airport and headed to the surroundings of al-Ashara town on the western bank of Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor countryside, and targeted Daesh terrorists’ positions there, inflicting heavy losses upon them before returning safely to their base.

The Russian Ministry added that Su-30 and Su-35 fighters accompanied the bombers from Hmeimim airbase in Syria and provided them with cover.

Russian Defense Ministry: 7 breaches registered in areas held by Daesh and Al-Nusra

On a relevant note, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the situation in the areas of de-escalation zones agreement is stable despite the fact that there were 7 violations registered in the provinces of Aleppo and Hama as well as Damascus during the past 24 hours.

A statement published on the Ministry’s website stated that the monitoring groups for the de-escalation zones in Syria recorded one violation in the each of the provinces of Aleppo and Hama, in addition to 3 violations in Homs and 2 in Damascus.

These breaches consisted of indiscriminate firing of conventional weapons in the areas under the control of the terrorist organizations of Jabhat al-Nusra and Daesh (ISIS), the ministry pointed out.

Armed groups have breached the de-escalation zones agreement many times during the last ten days, as they targeted residential neighborhoods in Damascus city, al-Walid mill in Homs, and Khirbet Ghazaleh electrical power plant in Daraa countryside, claiming the lives of 10 civilians and rendering many service institutions nonoperational.

However, the Russian Defense Ministry also announced that the Russian coordination center at Hmeimim airbase carried out a humanitarian operation by delivering food parcels to the village of Marran in Aleppo countryside, pointing out that the Hmeimim center carried out 1,685 humanitarian operations so far, during which they provided a total of 2,318.7 tons of aid, as well as relief and medical services for 65,629 people.
