Russian Defense Ministry: General situation in Syria’s de-escalation zones remains stable

Moscow, SANA – Russian Defense Ministry affirmed on Wednesday that the general situation in the areas of de-escalation in Syria remains stable despite the registration of 9 violations during the last 24 hours.

In a statement, the Ministry added that the monitoring groups of the de-escalation zones noted 4 violations in Lattakia province and 4 others in Damascus Countryside, describing the general situation in those areas as “still stable.”

The Ministry added that 7 villages and towns in Homs province have joined the cessation of hostilities agreement, bringing the total number of those involved in the reconciliation process to 2,032, while the number of armed groups committed to the cessation of hostilities reached 228, noting that negotiations will continue to make more groups and areas join the agreement in the provinces of Aleppo, Idleb, Damascus, Hama, Homs and Quneitra.

The statement added that the Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center carried out on Tuesday seven humanitarian operations that targeted 1137 people, by providing 1.9 tons of food stuff to the people of Aleppo and its villages and 1.7 tons in Hama, while medical services were provided to 284 people, in addition to delivering 21 tons of food stuff to the city of Deir Ezzor via parachutes.
