Homs Governor: Homs city fully secure after exit of last batch of militants from al-Waer neighborhood

Homs, SANA – Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi affirmed that al-Waer neighborhood is now fully secure after completing the reconciliation agreement reached in March to clear it of armed manifestations and to restore state institutes to it, thereby making the entire city of Homs fully clear of weapons and militants.

Al-Barazi told SANA’s correspondent that al-Waer is now clear of weapons and militants after the exit of the last batch of militants who reject the reconciliation agreement and some of their family members, adding that internal security forces will be deployed to the Justice Palace, Police Department, and state establishments in the neighborhood.

He elaborated by saying that the security forces will enter the center of the neighborhood to protect public and private properties, noting that thousands of people from al-Waer who have been displaced for more than 3 years will return to it today now that it’s secured, and the authorities will provide all possible facilitations to them.

The Governor said that engineering units are still removing IEDs, landmines, and explosives left behind by terrorist organizations.

Earlier today, SANA’s correspondent reported that Homs Governorate has finished the evacuation of 989 persons including 308 militants from al-Waer neighborhood onboard 26 buses heading for Jarblous City in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo province,, and that the process of transporting militants and some of their families’ members to Idleb city is ongoing as 11 buses carrying 463 persons onboard including 151 militants left the neighborhood.

The correspondent added that maintenance teams will enter the neighborhood to start the process of rehabilitation and maintenance at the neighborhood.
