UNESCO calls on Syria’s neighboring countries to continue cooperation to combat illicit trafficking in Syria’s heritage

Damascus, SANA – UNESCO World Heritage Committee recommended during its 38th session working to protect the world heritage properties which are listed on the threatened world heritage.

In a statement to SANA, Director of the Ruins and Museums Directorate, Mamoun Abdul-Karim, said the committee, during its latest meeting in Doha, reviewed the report offered by the Directorate at an earlier time on the situation of protecting the world heritage sites.

He pointed out that the committee called once again on the neighboring countries and the international community to continue cooperation to combat illicit trafficking in the Syrian cultural heritage and urged all sides to avoid any act that can cause more damage to it.
