Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem discussed with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov means to bolster bilateral relations and Syria’s fulfillment to the disposal of its chemical materials.
Minister al-Moallem expressed gratitude to the Russian government and people for the stances regarding Syria, stressing that the most pressing risk in the Middle East is terrorism, which requires coordinated efforts of the international community to counterit.
For his part, Ryabkov congratulated the Syrians for the completion of the presidential elections and the win of President Bashar al-Assad, conveying a message from Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in which he congratulated al-Moallem on the completion of removing all chemical materials out of the country.
He described the process as “unprecedented” for its circumstances, volume and time frame.
Earlier, Ryabkov held a meeting with Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad in which the disposal of chemical materials was tackled in addition to the bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
