Damascus, (SANA) President Bashar al-Assad received Saturday several cables from Guyana President and a number of Arab and international figures and bodies congratulating him on his win of June 3 presidential elections.
President Donald Ramotar of Guyana said in his cable that President al-Assad’s win is “a great victory” for Syria, expressing his wishes for continuing friendship relations between both countries and coordinating common positions on regional and international issues.
Other senders voiced in their cables their wishes for peace and stability to prevail in Syria once again.
They noted that the results of Syria’s presidential elections reflected the Syrian people’s will to firmly hold their ground in the face of the global conspiracy hatched against their country, stressing the need of backing Syria to confront the terrorism targeting it.
The congratulatory cables were sent by Igor Karpenko, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, Salah Kamel Daher, Secretary General of the Arab Lawyers Union and former Lebanese MPs and ministers and senior figures representing various Lebanese organizations.
