Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi said the accelerated pace at which local reconciliations have been achieved nationwide recently, particularly in Daraa, will contribute to restoring security and stability in the areas where the reconciliations are taking place.
1043 wanted people from the southern province of Daraa of those who got involved in the recent events in the country or who have not joined the military service had their legal status settled after they pledged not to commit any act that might harm the security of the homeland or citizens.
Al-Halqi’s remarks came during a meeting with members of the People’s Assembly representing the southern province of Daraa, in which the Premier said the reconciliations would help the residents of the Daraa continue agricultural, economic and daily life activities in an atmosphere of security.
Talks during the meeting dealt with ways of enhancing cooperation and coordination among the concerned bodies in Daraa to consolidate stability and to face the terrorist organizations operating there, in addition to settling the status of the detainees and the people kidnapped by terrorists.
Hundreds of wanted people have been having their legal status settled in various areas across the country over the past period. Many of those had turned themselves in and handed over their weapons to the authorities.
