Tehran, SANA – The International Conference of Islamic World Scholars in Defense of Palestinian Resistance started in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Tuesday with the participation of Syria.
Speaker of Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani delivered a speech at the opening of the conference in which he lambasted the West for seeking “to divide the region and impose its domination on it.”
He said that it was the strategy of the West which laid the foundation for the creation of the Zionist entity, affirming that “The resistance in Lebanon and Palestine has a great influence on the destiny of the Middle East region.”
For his part, Deputy Secretary General of the Lebanese resistance movement Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed that the “Takfiris” do not represent Islam, underscoring the need for confronting the danger of the terrorist organization of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which already seizes large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.
He noted that all those who supported ISIS will find themselves forced to face it as its danger will backfire on all of them.
Qassem struck a confident note when he said that the conspiracies of those who have worked on undermining the resistance and its main supporters, including Syria, have been foiled and the project of the New Middle East has been blocked.
Qassem affirmed that Hezbollah, through its resistance, did not only liberate an Israeli-occupied territory in Lebanon, but it has changed the entire equation altering the image of Israel from “a frightening scarecrow” to “a spider’s web”.
Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Ramadan Shalah, in turn, stressed that Gaza, a strip in Palestine besieged by the Israeli occupation forces for years, has achieved victory in the latest 51-day Israeli aggression on it as the Zionist entity was unable to achieve any of its goals.
For his part, former President of the Comoros Ahmed Abdallah Sambi said that the Palestinian issue is central for Muslims and Arabs.
Sambi pointed out that the conference is “a response to the international silence and the silence of the humanitarian organizations that did not utter a single word regarding what happens in Palestine and what is taking place in the Muslim world.”
