Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi said that the new government will continue its efforts to boost economic and trade cooperation with friendly countries, particularly Iran.
Meeting the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Riza Shibani on Thursday, al-Halqi stressed the importance of upgrading the Syrian-Iranian relations and opening new prospects in bilateral cooperation which serve the interests of the peoples in both countries.
The Premier pointed out that the government’s plans and programs focus on activating economic, commercial, industrial, medical tourism and services sectors, in addition to creating an appropriate basis for launching the construction phase with the assistance of Syria’s friends in Iran.
Al-Halqi called for activating the agreements signed between Syria and Iran, and signing new ones that contribute to counter the unjust war and economic embargo imposed on Syria.
For his part, Shibani congratulated Dr. al-Halqi on the occasion of forming the new government, expressing hope for new prospects of joint work.
He reiterated Iran’s support to the Syrian people and leadership, stressing his confidence that the Syrian people will achieve victory soon.
The meeting discussed cooperation prospects in economy, trade, industry, science, medicine and pharmacology as well as means of providing requirements of power generating stations and the establishment of joint development projects.
