Tehran, SANA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called for uniting the efforts of the region to send humanitarian aid to people affected by terrorism in Syria and Iraq.
Meeting UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos, Zarif said that the difficult humanitarian conditions in Syria and Iraq are created by terrorist organizations.
He underlined Iran’s efforts in cooperation with international organizations and other countries in providing humanitarian aid to Syria and Iraq, stressing the need for cooperating with the UN in this regard and for preparing to send aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
For her part, Amos thanked Iran for its cooperation in regards to relief efforts in Syria, reviewing the UN’s program for sending humanitarian aid to Iraq.
Iranian official: UNSC decision on ISIS too late though positive
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi stressed that the decision taken by the UN Security Council recently calling for abstaining from funding, supporting or arming the terrorists of “the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham” (ISIS) came too late, yet after the numerous crimes committed in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and other areas in the world it is considered as positive.
In an interview with the Iranian Alalalm TV Channel, Qashqavi said “We stressed since the beginning that the selective view of terrorism will harm countries in the future, and the trained terrorists who were sent to Syria will make troubles to the countries sending them.”
The Iranian official called all states, the Islamic countries in particular, to work together against these terrorist organizations because their acts distort Islam and seeks to ignite sectarian wars, stressing that his country is ready to cooperate broadly in this regard, particularly with regional countries.
On the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza, Qashqavi said that during the past 64 years and up till the present time, 232 international resolutions were issued, 35 human rights reports were released against the Israeli entity, as five international reports on the Zionist crimes were prepared, yet they have not deterred Israel from committing barbarian crimes.
He stressed that the Israeli entity is the sole party that is responsible for all the events taking place in the region, and the Palestinian resistance retaliates against the Israeli crimes, so it is not to blame according to logic and the international law.
