Russian long-range bombers target ISIS positions in Deir Ezzor

Moscow, SANA – Six Russian long-range supersonic Tupolev Tu-22M3 bombers were deployed from Russian territory to strike ISIS targets in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor, the Russia Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

The Ministry said in a statement that the bombers targeted ISIS base camps, weapon stockpiles, and armored vehicles, and that the operation was a success and all the targets were hit.

The Ministry also said that Russian fighter jets took off from the Hmeimim Airbase in Syria, providing air cover for the bombing sortie, and that all bombers and jets returned safely to their bases.
