25,875 students qualify for second stage of Syrian Science Olympiad

Damascus, SANA –About 25,875 10th grade students from all provinces have qualified for the second stage of the Syrian Science Olympiad’s competitions in the subjects of math, physics, chemistry, IT, and biology.

Head of the National Commission for the Syrian Science Olympiad Imad al-Azab said that the culture of the Science Olympiad is widely spreading on the country’s level, referring to the Syrian Science Olympiad’s achievements in regional and international competitions that amounted to 61 achievements during the past five years.

Al-Azab explained the procedures of the competitions that will be conducted on the levels of schools, regions, provinces and finally the country, as the finals will be held in early 2017. The winners then will qualify to take part in the international Olympiad next July.

The National Commission for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad launched, in cooperation with Education Ministry, the scientific competition at the school levels on October 30 and it lasted till November 3.
